Bust of Napoleon 1st revisited by myself

The overall aim with this series is to explore the theme of death across the most classic or iconic pieces of art ever produced.
This bust of Napoleon I (1769-1821) is from a model by the French sculptor Antoine-Denis Chaudet (1763-1810). Chaudet worked in a Neoclassical style and the 'herm' form of this bust, with the shoulders cut off and straight sides, imitates that of Roman imperial portraits. There are multiple copies of this sculpture in various forms, this one in particular has a wreath around Napoleon's head which drops to his shoulders and front. It is lifesize and is on permanent display at The Collection gallery in Lincoln, UK
